Health and Telemedicine at the American Hospital in Dubai
(May 9, 2009)This seminar was given by: S. Ramnath (Senior ECRI Consultant) Saturday May 9, 2009, 5:00pm at the American Hospital in Dubai - Dubai. The title was: Health and Telemedicine.
There is considerable pressure on expanding the reach of medical services without increasing costs. There has been renewed interest in Telemedicine and Teleradiology as a means to expand healthcare services. In this presentation, for the benefit of Biomedical Engineers I have highlighted on current newer practices in Telemedicine, to enable them to benefit from the convergence of Biomedical Engineering and Information Technology. The scope of this presentation includes details of the requisite Hardware, Software, and Connectivity required for this type of installation. Some of the nontraditional areas of telemedicine will be discussed.
Mr. S. Ramnath is an experienced Biomedical Engineer with over 30 years experience in Healthcare covering the areas of Healthcare Engineering, Quality and Information Technology. He has worked in several regions including South East Asia, South Asia and the Middle East with major multinationals like Siemens and GEC Medical Systems. His extensive training includes long stints in Europe and the US. As a senior consultant with ECRI, he has consulted with many leading customers in this region including Dubai Healthcare City, Hamas Medical Centre, Children Cancer Foundation, Egypt, Government of Oman, Government of South Africa and many other leading healthcare authorities in this region., in the above mentioned areas. He has presented a number of international papers and has been a member of Arab Health teaching sessions on the practical implementations of IT and Biomedical Services. He is also a member of many professional societies in Biomedical Engineering and Information Technology.About IEEE
